This is the Photon Band's heaviest, bluesiest album, but somehow, pop songwriting remains a priority throughout. The Photon Band is as eclectic as ever here -- we hear echoes of Hendrix, the Monkees, blue-eyed soul, Zeppelin, and even Stereolab -- but the album has a sonic unity not present on other albums, despite being recorded over a number of years and in several different studio situations. Members of Vibrolux, Bardo Pond, the Lilys, Matt Pond PA, and the Burning Brides make cameos. But no guest appearance is more sentimental than that of DiFuria's early bandmate Andy Clees, who delivers a Keith Richards-esque rhythm guitar outing on "Whatchagonnado?"
